If you've wondered where you have seen Holt McCallany before, he had a blink-and-you-will-miss appearance in David Fincher's 1999 cult classic, Fight Club.

Despite not being on screen for more than a hot minute, he must have made quite the impression on Fincher as he went from background character to the lead.

He did indeed, bag the lead role in David Fincher's true-crime series, Mindhunter- a Netflix series that also stars Jonathan Groff, Cameron Britton, and Anna Torv.

We look at the intriguing story of Holt McCallany from a background character to a leading man in this list of seven facts.

7. Part Of Two David Fincher Projects: Fight Club And Mindhunter

David Fincher is the visionary behind such classics as Se7en, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl. He has also lent his directorial and producing talents on such small-screen series as House of Cards and Mindhunter.

Featuring in one Fincher feature is pretty much guaranteed to make you a player in showbiz; feature in two, and you are a bonafide superstar.

Holt McCallany has, indeed, appeared in two Fincher features. He had a background role in the 1999 movie Fight Club, as a background character, colloquially known as the Mechanic.

He then landed the more prominent role as FBI agent Bill Tench in Fincher's Netflix true-crime series Mindhunter. His character is one of the three central characters with Jonathan Groff's character Holden Ford, and Anna Torv's character Dr. Wendy Carr.

Together, they are the behavioural sciences division of the FBI, tasked with interviewing serial killers to understand their mind and stop serial killers at large.

6. Holt Is In A Relationship With Nicole Wilson

Despite this, their relationship has been kept remarkably clandestine, especially considering Holt and Nicole's status as Hollywood mainstays. Their private life has not been plagued by gossips and controversy perpetuated by the media.

5. Ran Away From His Home To Become An Actor

He struggled to fit into a school and ran away from his home at 14 to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He learned the hard way that real life is nothing like the movies, and after failing to find gigs, worked as a factory hand.
