Ben Barnes is an English actor, singer, and musician.

Born Benjamin Thomas Barnes on August 20, 1981, the 38-year-old actor was born in London, England.

Born to a therapist mother, Tricia, and psychiatry professor father, Thomas Barnes, Ben started his professional career on the stage, when he was 15. Besides being an actor, he is also a singer and a musician who was a part of the English boy-band, Hyrise.

Barnes is most known for playing Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia movie franchise. He was also a recurring presence on the first two seasons of the HBO sci-fi/western series, Westworld, as Logan Delos

He has also starred in numerous movies: Dorian Gray (2009), Killing Bono (2011), Seventh Son (2014), and Jackie & Ryan (2014) being only a few of them.

Barnes also starred opposite Jon Bernthal in the Marvel/Netflix superhero-action series, The Punisher. He will star in the upcoming fantasy series, Shadow and Bone.

7. Starred as Billy Russo in Netflix's The Punisher

Barnes played Billy Russo in the Netflix action-superhero series, The Punisher. Adapted from the Marvel Comics characters, The Punisher follows anti-hero Frank Castle and his vigilante counterpart, The Punisher, who seeks justice and vengeance for the murders of his wife and two children.

Jon Bernthal -- of The Walking Dead fame -- starred as Frank Castle/Punisher, with Barnes playing Billy, his best friend-turned-nemesis. 

The series also starred Ebon Moss-Bachrach as David Lieberman / Micro, Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, Daniel Webber as Lewis Wilson, Paul Schulze as William Rawlins / Agent Orange, Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle, and Michael Nathanson as Sam Stein.

Despite critical acclaim and fan engagement, the series was canceled after its second season.      

6. Played Logan Delos in Westworld

Another of Barnes' acclaimed television roles saw him as Logan Delos in the Jonathan Nolan/Lisa Joy brainchild, Westworld. Mixing together elements of science-fiction and western, the series is one of the most popular to ever air on HBO.

He was a recurring presence on seasons 1 and 2 of the series, although he has not appeared in the third season.

The hit sci-fi series is currently in its third season that premiered on March 15, 2020, and stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Luke Hemsworth, and Ed Harris, among others.

5. Played Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia Movie Series

Barnes found widespread recognition for playing Prince Caspian in the fantasy movie franchise, The Chronicles of Narnia.  

The movies are based on the works of English novelist, C.S. Lewis, and among the three movies, have combinedly grossed in the upwards of $1.5 billion at the international box office.

Barnes first appeared in the second installment of the franchise in his character's namesake, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)

He later reprised his role in the third and final installment, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010). 

4. Starred in the movies Dorian Gray, Seventh Son, and Jackie & Ryan  

Barnes is also known for his lead performances in numerous movies.

He played the titular character in the 2009 movie, Dorian Gray. Based on the classic novel by Oscar Wilde, the movie is one of the many iterations of Wilde's 1890 novel that follows Dorian Gray, a man whose image is captured in a magical portrait, granting him immortality and eternal youth.

Barnes also starred as Tom Ward alongside Jeff Bridges, Alicia Vikander, and Julianne Moore, among others in Russian filmmaker Sergei Bodrov's adaptation of Joseph Delaney's fantasy novel, The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch, 2014's Seventh Son.  

Additionally, Barnes also starred alongside Katherine Heigl in the 2014 romantic-drama, Jackie & Ryan as Ryan, an aspiring musician.

3. He is an accomplished Musician

Besides being a bona fide actor, Barnes is also an accomplished musician. He started his career as a stage performer in musicals and made his on-stage debut as a drummer at the West End production of Bugsy Malone.

He part of the short-lived English boy-band, Hyrise. Hyrise was one of the favorites to represent England at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest but ultimately lost the running. They broke up soon thereafter. 

In addition to singing, Barnes can also play the drums and the piano. He performed many of the songs in his movies, including  Jackie & Ryan, a movie in which he plays a musician. He also performed on the soundtrack of Easy Virtue and Killing Bono

2. Set to Star in the Upcoming Netflix Fantasy Series, Shadow and Bone

Barnes is set to star in the upcoming fantasy series, Shadow and Bone. The series is adapted from the novels series Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows by the American author, Leigh Bardugo.

The official IMDb synopsis of the show reads:

"A young woman with newfound powers tries to save her land from a powerful, evil force."

The series is in post-production and will premiere on Netflix. Barnes will play the main antagonist of the series, General Kirigan / The Darkling

He will be joined by Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, Archie Renaux as Malyen “Mal” Oretsev, Amita Suman as Inej Ghafa, and Kit Young as Jesper Fahey, rounding out the main cast.
