Bill Hader is an American actor. comedian, writer, director, and producer. First gaining recognition as a featured cast member of the NBC sketch-comedy show, Saturday Night Live, Hader would really come into his own as an actor -- and a damn good one -- in the HBO dark-comedy series, Barry.

7. Emmy Award-winning Lead of HBO's Barry

Bill Hader broke the typecast set for him with his turn as the titular character in the hit HBO dark-comedy-drama series, Barry.

Hader plays Barry Berkman, a hitman who meets a girl during one of his operations and questions his life choices while dealing with past associates.

A highly acclaimed series, Barry has received 30 Emmy Award nominations with Hader winning twice in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category. 

Joining Bill are Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, Henry Winkler, Stephen Root, Glenn Fleshler, and Darrell Britt-Gibson, among others.   

6. Has Three Daughters with Ex-Wife, Maggie Carey

Bill was married to writer/director Maggie Carey. Carey is a writer/director known for her documentaries and narrative films.

They got married on May 28, 2006, and bore three children: all daughters. Their first daughter, Hannah Kathryn, was born on October 6, 2009. Another daughter, Harper, soon followed on July 28, 2012 and their third daughter, Hayley Clementine, was born on November 15, 2014.

Their divorce was made official on June 23, 2018.    

5. First Person since Eddy Murphy in 1984 to be Nominated for an Emmy for Saturday Night Live

Hader got his career breakthrough in 2005 as part of the NBC sketch-comedy show, Saturday Night Live.

He performed impressions of various celebrities on his audition and was able to land a part in the show.

He had a long stint on SNL and on July 19, 2012, he became the first male cast member since Eddie Murphy in 1984 to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.  

4. Played Richie Tozier in It Chapter Two

Hader once again proved his versatility as an actor in the much-anticipated 2019 sequel to the 2017 supernatural-horror movie, It, It Chapter Two.

Hader played an adult Richie Tozier, now all grown up yet still the same brash loudmouth that he was as a child in 2017's It, despite being a successful stand-up comedian.

Trivia: Did You Know? Finn Wolfhard played the younger version of Richie Tozier in the 2017 movie. 

3. Voice-Over Credits in Movies like Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Besides being an on-screen presence, Hader has lent his voice to a litany of different movies and television shows.

He voiced the lead character, Flint Lockwood in the animated comedy movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and its sequel, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. 

He has also done voice-over work in such animated movies as Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Inside Out, Sausage Party, Finding Dory, and Toy Story 4.

Bill Hader landed a role in the 2008 satirical-action-comedy movie Tropic Thunder that starred, among other people, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Cruise, Jack Black, and Matthew McConaughey.
