Henry Winkler is an American actor who has been acting since the early '70s and even at the age of 74, continues to be a presence on the screens.

In his illustrious career, Winkler has been credited as an actor, a director, and a producer. He has also had a successful career as a comedian and an author.  

Despite having more than four decades worth of experience and major parts in some acclaimed TV shows, his first Primetime Emmy Award win would only come recently in the HBO dark-comedy series, Barry.

Here are seven facts about Henry Winkler:

7. Emmy Award-Winning Performance in HBO Black-Comedy Series, Barry

Better late than never!

Henry Winkler's body of work has been as versatile as it has been prolific. Despite being a 38-year veteran, he would only win his first Primetime Emmy Award in 2018 for his supporting role as Gene Cousineau in the HBO dark-comedy crime-drama series, Barry.

He plays the mentor and a father figure of sorts to the titular character, Barry, played by Bill Hader.

Joining Henry and Bill are Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, Anthony Carrigan, and Stephen Root, among others.     

6. Has Two Kids with Wife Stacey Weitzman

Henry got married to the actress Stacey Weitzman on May 5, 1978; they have been together ever since.

With Stacy, he has two children together: a daughter and a son. Their daughter, Zoe Emily, was born in 1980 and chose a career as a preschool teacher. Their son, Max Daniel, however, followed in his parents' footsteps and is a director known for the movie Ceremony.

Besides their two children, Stacey also has a child born out of her marriage with her ex-husband, Howard Weitzman, Jed Weitzman. 

5. Co-Author of the Hank Zipzer Children Book Series 

Dyslexia is a disability that hits home with Henry, considering his own struggles with the learning disability.

So, when approached by his agent, Alan Berger, to write a series of children's books about dyslexia, Henry finally gave in and co-authored the book series, titled Hank Zipzer, with writer and producer Lin Oliver.

Henry went on to write 17 books and branched out with a prequel to the Hank Zipzer books, Here's Hank. 

4. Breakthrough as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli in the Sitcom, Happy Days

Winkler had, what many would consider, his "breakout role" in the American sitcom, Happy Days

His character, the greaser Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli first made an appearance in 1974 and had a stint that lasted until 1984. 

During that time, Winkler's performance became a fan favorite and won him two Golden Globes and three Primetime Emmy nominations.

3. Appearances in Sitcoms like Arrested Development and Parks and Recreation

Winkler has lent his comedic genius to many television sitcoms, including his roles in the popular American sitcoms  Arrested Development and Parks and Recreation.

In Arrested Development, Winkler had a recurring role as Barry Zuckerkorn, appearing in 32 episodes from 2003 all the way to 2019.

In Parks and Recreation, Winkler had a shorter stint as Dr. Saperstein and appeared in a total of 9 episodes from 2013 to 2015. 

2. Henry Winkler: Age, Parents, and Height

Henry Winkler was born Henry Franklin Winkler on October 30, 1945, in Manhattan, New York. One of two children born to the Jewish parents, Ilse Anna Marie and Harry Irving Winkler, his parents absconded from Germany during Hitler's reign with his sister, Beatrice.

 Henry is 74 years old and stands at a squat 5' 6".
