7. Plays Monroe Fuches in HBO Dark-Comedy Series, Barry

Root's most recent turn finds him in the acclaimed HBO dark-comedy crime-drama series, Barry, as Monroe Fuches. Fuches is the mentor to the titular character, Barry, who grooms him to be a contract killer. When Barry tries to forego his past, Fuches tries to draw him back into a life of crime.

Bill Hader plays the titular character alongside Root. They are joined by Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, Anthony Carrigan, and Henry Winkler. among others.

6. Married since 2008 to Actress Romy Rosemont  

Since December 14, 2008, Root has been married to the actress Romy Rosemont -- of An American Crime fame.

Before his marriage to Romy, Stephen was married to actress Laura Joan Hase for thirteen years during which they had a son together, Cody Root. They got married in 1984 and by 1997, they had separated. 

5. Played Gaston Means in Boardwalk Empire

Barry is not the first HBO project that Stephen has been involved in. He was part of the the acclaimed period-crime-drama series Boardwalk Empire.

From 2012 to 2013, Stephen played Gaston Means, a murder suspect turned Special Investigator for the US Department of Justice.
