7. Is Barry Corbin Related To John Corbin?

Barry Corbin and John Corbin are not related to each other. John Corbin is best known for his work in The Black Bird, Game On! and Sweet Caroline.

Barry's sister, Jane Corbin, is a journalist and film-maker and has made over a hundred documentaries, mainly for the BBC. His mother, Alma LaMerle Scott, worked as an elementary school teacher. Barry's father, Kilmer Blaine Corbin, Sr., was a school principal, lawyer, and judge. Kilmer was also a Democratic member of the Texas State Senate. 

6. Earned Emmy Nomination For Northern Exposure

For his performance as Maurice Minnifield, a multi-millionaire businessman, retired fighter pilot, and former astronaut, Corbin became nominated at the Emmys in the early 90s. In addition, he was also nominated at Media Owl Award and American Television Award for his work in the series. 

Corbin has also been inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame and Hall of Western Performers at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. In the latter, his painting is placed at the museum exhibit, which he considers as 'the biggest honor for any Western entertainer,' comparing it to the Academy Awards and Golden Globes. 

5. Was One Of The Lead Casts Of One Tree Hill

Corbin played as Whitey Durham in the teen drama series One Tree Hill. Durham is seen as the basketball coach for the Tree Hill Ravens.

With the role, he was able to reach the teenage audience, but as he notes, he had 'never seen a basketball game' because of which he started a basketball-game marathon 'for three days,' focusing primarily on the coaches' movements. With The Dallas Observer, he stated,

"They are always out there waving their arms and yelling and screaming. I thought I'm gonna play that when I'm on the court. When I'm not, I'm gonna be Yoda, all zen and just smooth and easy and offer wise advice."

Besides, the 79 years old actor also had an episodic role in Emmy Award Winning family sitcom, Modern Family. Corbin played as Merle Tucker in the third season of the show.

4. Corbin Guest-Appeared In Better Call Saul

Barry Corbin played as Everett Acker in television crime drama series, Better Call Saul. It is a prequel and spin-off Breaking Bad. Corbin character, Acker, did not appear in the Breaking Bad and sequel film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.

Corbin is seen as a homeowner and client of the show's lead character, Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk. Along with Odenkirk, the series also featured Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, Michael McKean, Giancarlo Esposito, in prominent roles.

3. Net Worth Of $4 Million

Corbin's net worth is estimated to be $4 million, which can be credited to his hundred-plus television and film credits. His notable works include WarGames, Urban Cowboy, Any Which Way You Can, Lonesome Dove, and Academy winning film No Country for Old Men. 

At 79, he is still going strong, be it in a guest spot or a supporting role in both small and big screen. Corbin's recent works include film Eminence Hill and television shows as The Ranch, Young Sheldon, Better Call Saul, and 9-1-1: Lone Star.

2. Corbin Has Been Married Twice

Barry Corbin married his first wife, Marie Elyse Soape, on March 8, 1965. Their son, Bernard Corbin, was born in 1970, just four years before the couple separated on December 31, 1974.

He married actress Susan Berger on May 29, 1976. They have two sons: Jim Barry Corbin, born on May 26, 1979, and Christopher Corbin, born in 1982. Berger and Corbin appeared in the television movie The Killing of Randy Webster in 1981. They divorced on June 14, 1993. 

Corbin has a daughter Shannon Ross who had been living with her adoptive parents since infancy. Her birth mother had an affair with Corbin but gave up the child without letting him know about the pregnancy. Barry met his daughter for the first time in June 1991; Shannon was 26 years old at the time.

1. A Recurring Cast Of Netflix's The Ranch

Barry Corbin played as Dale Rivers in the web television sitcom, The Ranch. He first appeared in the seventh episode, I Can't Go There, of the first season. 

His character, Rivers, is introduced as a close friend of the Vietnam war veteran, Beau Roosevelt Bennett. Dale is a hearing-impaired veterinarian who has worked in the small fictional town of Garrison for years.

The show also features actors like Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, Debra Winger, Sam Elliott, Elisha Cuthbert, Bret Harrison, Megyn Price, Kelli Goss, Molly McCook, and many more.
