American actor Bob Odenkirk, whose birth name is Robert John Odenkirk, garnered audience and critics praise with his performance as Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill in AMC's Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul. 

He has been entertaining viewers for more than three decades, not just as an actor but also as a writer and comedian. The success Odenkirk garnered from Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul has led him to star in high-profile projects as Nebraska, Fargo, The Post, Incredibles 2, and recently Little Women. 7. Bob Odenkirk: Age and Height

Born on October 22, 1962, Odenkirk is currently 57 years old. He stands 5 feet and 9 inches tall (1.75 m).

Odenkirk was born in Berwyn, Illinois, and raised in Naperville. His father, Walter Odenkirk, and mother, Barbara Odenkirk, separated because of his father's struggle with alcoholism. Walter's alcohol dependency influenced Odenkirk's decision to abstain from alcohol.

Bob is the older brother of Bill Odenkirk, who is a comedy writer. Bill has a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry and was a co-discoverer of the ligand 2,2'-Bis(2-indenyl) biphenyl. He has also worked as executive producer of The Simpsons.

6. Received an Honorary Degree from SIU

Odenkirk had transferred to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While still in college, Odenkirk started working as a radio DJ for a local non-broadcast college station, WIDB, where he created a late-night comedy show called The Prime Time Special.

At the time, in hopes of honing his comedy skills, Odenkirk left the Carbondale university three credits short of graduation and moved to Chicago. The 57 years old actor completed the credits while living in Chicago, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1984.

On December 2019, Odenkirk was designated with a honorary degree of Doctor of Performing Arts from his alma mater in southern Illinois. Bob could be presented with the honor at the 2020 commencement ceremony, according to The Southern Illinoisan.

5. Won His First Award as the Writer of SNL

After befriending comedian and writer, Robert Smigel, Bob left his stand-up comedy and started working as a writer at Saturday Night Live. Bob worked on the show from season 13 to 20 that aired from 1987 to 1995. 

He contributed to numerous sketches along with Robert Smigel and Conan O'Brien. For his brilliant sketch, Odenkirk won his first award at the Emmys in the category of Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 1989. 

He also became nominated for two Emmys for the next consecutive years. Nevertheless, Odenkirk left the show because of the trouble he faced while getting his work on air. 

4. Did the Voice Over for The Simpsons

Bob Odenkirk's guest appeared in the third episode of the thirty-first season of The Simpsons. Odenkirk lent his voice for the Fat Tony's lawyer character in the episode titled The Fat Blue Line

Aside from making a guest appearance as one of the characters, Odenkirk also wrote the episode. As a matter of fact, The Fat Blue Line episode also featured Aquaman star, Jason Momoa

Bob Odenkirk's net worth is estimated to be $10 million. Odenkirk made his big-screen debut with Wayne's World 2, and after few small roles in movies, he appeared as a writer on Saturday Night Live. The 57 years old actor then went on to work as a writer in numerous comedic stage productions, including shows as Get a Life, The Dennis Miller Show, The Ben Stiller Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Dana Carvey Show. 

He received significant recognition for the portrayal of Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad. Besides appearing as an actor and writer, Odenkirk has also worked as a producer and director. His directorial credited movies and television shows include The Birthday Boys, Derek & Simon, The Brothers Solomon, Let's Go to Prison, Melvin Goes to Dinner.

Bob Odenkirk tied the knot with producer Naomi Odenkirk in 1997. Naomi worked as an executive producer of W/ Bob and David created by and starring her husband, Bob Odenkirk.

The couple has two children together: son, Nathan Odenkirk, and daughter, Erin Odenkirk. Nathan was born on December 3, 1998, and has appeared in movies as Melvin Goes to Dinner, Rat Bastard, and Scrub. On the other hand, Erin was born on November 24, 2000.

Bob Odenkirk plays as Jimmy McGill in the crime drama series Better Call Saul. The series is the prequel and spin-off of the creator,
Vince Gilligan, prior series Breaking Bad. Odenkirk's character appears as a lawyer and a former scam artist who gets involved in the criminal world. 

For his performance in the show, the 57 years old actor earned a nomination in various awards shows, including eight nominations at Emmy Awards and three at Golden Globe awards. He also won two Critics Choice and Satellite awards in the category of best actor and best cast, respectively.
