Rosario Dawson is an American actress and singer. An on-screen TV and movie actress, Dawson is also known for her extensive voice-over work.

One of the few people to have worked under the banner of both DC Comics and Marvel Comics, here are seven facts about Rosario Dawson:   

7. Main Cast of USA Network Anthology Series, Blairpatch

Rosario Dawson's most recent turn finds her in the USA Network anthology-crime-drama series, Blairpatch. Based on the eponymous Ross Thomas novel, the series stars Dawson as Allegra "Pick" Dill, who investigates the mysterious death of her sister.

The first season premiered on February 6, 2020. 

Dawson is joined by a star-studded cast that includes Jay R. Ferguson, Kim Dickens, Edi Gathegi, John Aylward, and Stephanie Hill, to name a few. 

6. In a relationship with US Senator Cory Booker

In March 2019, Rosario Dawson confirmed a persistent rumor that she was dating the New Jersey Senator, Cory Booker

She broke the news to TMZ, saying:

"He's a wonderful human being. It's good to spend some time together when we can...I am just grateful to be with someone who I respect and love and admire so much, who is so brilliant and kind and caring and loving."

In June 2019, Cory Booker -- who was a guest at the talk show, RuPaul, with Dawson an in-attendant --  recalled their first meeting, back in 2018, saying:

"We actually met at a friend of our's that was running for governor of Maryland. Ben Jealous is his name, former head of the NAACP. And we met at that party, and she didn't give me the time of day. She gave me serious shade. But then we re-met at another friend's party. Months later, both of us were single at the time, and it was the roof party of a dear friend, and I had the courage to walk up to her and ask for her phone number."

Relationship with Eric Andre

Dawson was also in a relationship with the comedian and TV host Eric Andre from 2016 to 2017. 

5. Adopted a Girl in 11-year-old girl in 2014

In 2014, Rosario Dawson became a mom for the first time at 35 when she legally adopted an 11-year-old girl in October 2014, Lola Dawson.  

Dawson, who as a one-year-old, was herself adopted by her stepfather, Greg Dawson, when her biological father abandoned her mother, cites him as her biggest inspiration behind the decision.

The idea had bee percolating in her mind as far back as 2008, as she revealed to Latina Magazine:

“That idea has stayed in the back of my head, but lately, I’ve been thinking about it more. My mother and grandmother are extraordinary women, and they’re getting older. It struck me recently that one day I might be sitting around with my children, going, ‘Your grandma was an amazing woman; I really wish you could’ve known her.’ . . . Whatever time I have, I want it.”    

4. Played Claire Temple in Five Marvel/Netflix Series

To date, Dawson has appeared in five Marvel/Netflix series. She made her first appearance in 2015 as nurse Claire Temple in the first season of Daredevil. Temple is a medical nurse who aids the gravely wounded Matt Murdock (Daredevil) -- the main protagonist of the series. She returned for the show's second season.   

She then reprised her role for the first season of Jessica Jones (2015) and became a more central character in Luke Cage (2016-2018).

Dawson went on to appear in the subsequent series: Iron Fist (2017-2108) and The Defenders (2017).   

3. Voice of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the DC Animated Movies Universe  

Dawson is one of the few esteemed individuals to have appeared in both Marvel and DC Comics projects: from being an on-screen character in Marvel/Netflix series to being a voice-over actor in DC animated features.

Dawson voiced the DC Comics super-heroine Diana Prince and her superhero alter-ego, Wonder Woman, in numerous direct-to-video animated films in the DC Animated Movies Universe.

She first played Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Justice League: Throne of Atlantis  (2015). Since then, she has appeared in Justice League vs. Teen Titans (2016),  Justice League Dark (2017), The Death of Superman (2018), Wonder Woman: Bloodlines (2019), and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War (2020).

Trivia: Did you know? Rosario Dawson also voiced Artemis in the 2009 direct-to-DVD animated movie, Wonder Woman, and Barbara Gordon / Batgirl in the 2017 computer-animated movie, The Lego Batman Movie.
