Christina Applegate is an American actress and dancer. She is an Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-nominated television and movie actress who has also been nominated for a Tony Award for her work on-stage in the musical, Sweet Charity

Born on November 25, 1971, in Hollywood, California, Applegate made her on-screen debut in 1972 as an infant alongside her mother in the daytime NBC soap opera, Days of Our Lives

Fast forward to 2020 and the-now 48-year-old actress is herself, a mother of a daughter and recently starred in the Netflix black comedy series, Dead to Me. The second season of the acclaimed series is set to premiere on May 8, 2020. 

Here are seven facts about Christina Applegate: 

7. Stars in the Netflix Black Comedy Series, Dead to Me

Since 2019, Christina Applegate has starred in the Netflix original series, Dead to Me. The black-comedy series premiered on Netflix on May 3, 2019, and starred Applegate as the recently-widowed real-estate agent, Jen Harding -- a role for which she was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 71st Primetime Emmy Award.

The series centers around Harding and the friendship that she develops with Judy Hale (played by Linda Cardellini), over a therapy group for widowed spouses that they both attend. On the surface, things look cut-and-dry, but lurking beneath the surface are vile secrets.

The series also stars James Marsden, Max Jenkins, Sam McCarthy, and Suzy Nakamura, among others.

The show was renewed for a second season in June 2019 and is set to premiere on May 8, 2020.  

6. Mother of Daughter, Sadie Grace, with Husband, Martyn LeNoble

Christina was married for the first time to actor Johnathon Schaech from 2001 to 2005. They tied the knot on October 20, 2001, in a private ceremony in Palm Springs, California. 

In 2005, Schaech filed for divorce from Christina, citing "irreconcilable differences". Their divorce was finalized on August 10, 2007.

Christina married for the second time to the Dutch musician Martyn LeNoble -- of Porno for Pyros fame -- in 2013.

They started dating in July 2008 and LeNoble popped the question on Valentine's Day 2010. They made their marriage official on February 23, 2013, in a ceremony held at their LA home.

On January 27, 2011, they welcomed their daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble.       

5. Diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2008

On August 3, 2008, People Magazine broke the news that Applegate had been diagnosed with breast cancer. A rep close to Applegate confirmed the report with the statement that read:

"Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early stage of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor-ordered MRI, the cancer is not life-threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time."

Due to the cancer being diagnosed at an early stage, Applegate underwent a double mastectomy and announced on August 19, 2008, that she was cancer-free.

4. Starred as Kelly Bundy in Fox Sitcom, Married... with Children

Christina established herself as a leading lady when she landed the role of Kelly Bundy in the long-running and highly-acclaimed Fox sitcom, Married... with Children. 

She had a decade-long stint in the sitcom (from 1987 to 1997) and played the stereotypical "dumb blonde" older child of the Bundy household, Kelly.

Her parents, Al Bundy and Peg Bundy were portrayed by Ed O'Neill and Katey Sagal, respectively; with David Faustino's portrayal of the youngest son, Bud Bundy, rounding out the Bundy household.

The sitcom holds a place in television folklore and remains one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history.    

3. One of Two Emmy Award-Winning Guest Stars in Friends

Christina won her first and to date, her only Primetime Emmy Award for her guest appearance as Amy Green in the popular NBC sitcom, Friends

She made two appearances as the character, from 2002 to 2003, in the episodes, "The One with Rachel's Other Sister", and "The One Where Rachel's Sister Babysits", and if it wasn't apparent by the episode titles, Applegate played Rachel's (Jennifer Aniston) sister.

For her brief yet unforgettable appearance, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2004 Emmy Awards.

The only other person to have won a Primetime Emmy Award for a guest appearance on Friends is Bruce Willis, who won the award in 2000 for his portrayal of Paul Stevens.     

2. Starred alongside Will Ferrell in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Christina has been a fixture of the big screens since her early '80s debut. She debuted in 1981 in the movies Jaws of Satan.

Her more prominent roles came in later years in movies like Mars Attacks!, The Sweetest Thing, and Wonderland.

She starred alongside Will Ferrell in the 2004 comedy movie, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy as Veronica Corningstone.

The movie also featured Paul Rudd, Vince Vaughn, Steve Carell, Jack Black, and a whole ensemble of acclaimed actors.

The movie went on to become a cult classic and spawned a 2013 sequel, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, with Applegate returning to reprise her role in the movie.         

1. Has a Net Worth of $20 Million

As of April 2020, Christina Applegate's net worth stands at $20 million. She is a stage and screen actress. 

Her claim to fame was her ten-year stint in the Fox sitcom, Married... with Children, as Kelly Bundy, the stereotypical "dumb blonde" and the older daughter of the Bundy household.  

She is also one of only two actors to have won a Primetime Emmy Award for a guest appearance in the NBC sitcom, Friends -- a distinction she shares with Bruce Willis.

Her other notable TV credits include 21 Jump Street, King of the Hill, Up All Night, and The Muppets. She also stars in the Netflix black comedy series, Dead to Me.
