7. Struggled With Dyslexia
In 2010, Kaya came forward via her Twitter handle to announce that she struggled with dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning disability characterized by the inability to grasp and decode speech sounds. Kaya admitted that it was a massive blow on her self-esteem.
The tweet reads:
"Watching an interesting doc on BBC Three about dyslexia, something that I have struggled with my whole life. It really affected my self-esteem."
6. Came Forward With Se*ual Abuse Allegations
In late 2017, the Twitter hashtag #MeToo Movement became a symbol of solidarity for victims of se*ual abuse, and a call for social and legal reform against the perpetrators of those abuses.
One of the people to come forward was Scodelario, who, in October 2017, came forward with her own harrowing experience. She disclosed that she had been se*ually assaulted while in Brazil, and the aggressor was still protected.
In the tweet, Scodelario stated:
“It’s taken me 13 years to say #MeToo. He is still protected by ‘family members’ in Brazil. They’ve told lies to papers to try to silence me. No more. #MeToo.”
She went on to add:
“I want to thank every single person who has spoken out about se*ual assault/harassment recently. You’ve given me the courage to finally speak out and not be afraid. To everyone still suffering silently, you never asked for it. NOBODY DOES.”
5. Lied About Her Age On Her Audition Form
Kaya was 14 and had no prior experience when she landed a role in the English teen comedy-drama Skins. She would go on to become a more featured cast member as the show progressed.
But the story behind her audition is perhaps more intriguing. She lied about her age to increase her chances of getting hired! She put down her age as 16 instead of 14 on her audition forms.
She was, however, self-conscious, and decided to leave, regardless. The producer implored her to stay at the very least. When another actress dropped out, Kaya was offered the role of Effy Stonem, and the rest is history.

Kaya got into a relationship with her Skins co-star Jack O'Connell in 2008. They had an amicable separation a year later in June 2009.
After O'Connell, Kaya dated the English actor Elliott Tittensor in late 2009. Things were looking up for the couple, and they even got matching tattoos that read "Our Love is Unique" in Portuguese, but they would break up in 2014.
