J.J. Soria, A.K.A Joseph Julian Soria, is an American actor of Mexican heritage. Born on August 28, 1986, Soria was born in Los Angeles, California, to Mexican immigrants.  

Soria made his on-screen debut in 2004 in Meeting the Bullet. Since then, Soria's career has been one acclaimed performance after another.

He has appeared in TV shows like The Shield, NCIS, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, Army Wives, Supernatural, and Hawaii Five-O, and starred in shows like Army Wives and The Oath. 

He has also made appearances in movies like Camp X-Ray, Superfast!, Max, and The Purge: Election Year.

Most recently, he stars in the Netflix original series, Gentefied.

7. Stars as Erik Morales in Netflix Comedy-Drama, Gentefied

Most recently, Soria stars in the Netflix original comedy-drama series, Gentefied. Centered around three Latin-American cousins who try to save their grandfather's taco restaurant, Mama Fina's, from being closed down because of the gentrification going on in the neighborhood.

Soria plays one of the three cousins, Erik Morales, with Karrie Martin and Carlos Santos playing the other two cousins: Ana Morales and Chris Morales, respectively. 

Joaquín Cosío plays Casimiro "Pop" Morales, the grandfather and the owner of  Mama Fina's. Other cast members include Julissa Calderon, Jaime Alvarez, and Greg Ellis.     

The series premiered on Netflix on February 21, 2020. 

6. Breakthrough Role in Army Wives

Joseph gained widespread recognition and acclaim as Private First Class Hector Cruz in the Lifetime drama series, Army Wives.

He made his first appearance as the character in episode 6 of the show's sixth season and became an indispensable character through the show's closing seasons.

The show ran for seven seasons before it was canceled on September 24, 2013. 

5. Guest Appearances in The Shield, NCIS, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, Supernatural, Hawaii Five-O

Soria has had an extensive television career and enjoyed tremendous success as in starring roles as well as guest roles.

He has made guest appearances in some of the biggest TV shows in recent memory. 

He played Spider in two episodes of the FX crime-drama series, The Shield, in 2005. In 2009, he played Victor 'Popeye' Carmado in another crime-drama series, NCIS. The same year, he appeared in the Fox crime procedural comedy-drama series, Bones, as Pedro Marquez.

Soria also played Roscoe in the third season of the FX crime-tragedy series, Sons of Anarchy, and Carlos Fuentes in the fifth season of the crime-drama series, Dexter -- both in 2010

His more recent work includes his guest appearance in the ninth season of the action-crime-drama series, Hawaii Five-O, in 2019.

4. Starred alongside Kristen Stewart in Camp X-Ray

Soria has also been a presence on the big screens. Since his feature-film debut as Link in the 2004 crime drama movie, Meeting a Bullet, Soria has come into his own as a lead man.

His first starring role came in 2013 in the indie movie, Mission Park. He also shared the screen with Kristen Stewart -- of Twilight fame -- in the 2014 indie political-drama, Camp X-Ray.

Additionally, Soria has appeared in other movies like Superfast!, Max, and The Purge: Election Year.

3. Played Russell Ortega in The Fosters

Sorio proved his versatility as an actor when he landed the role of Russell Ortega in the family-drama series, The Fosters. Incongruous with his previous roles -- which have been primarily in crime-drama -- Sorio played the character in the show's fourth season and went on to appear throughout the season.

2. Starred as Pete Ramos in The Oath   

Sorio starred in the crime-drama web series, The Oath, as Pete Ramos. 

The series starred, among other people, Sean Bean, Ryan Kwanten, Katrina Law, and Cory Hardrict.
