Timothy Alan Dick, known professionally as Tim Allen, is an American actor and comedian.

He is most known for lending his voice to the character Buzz Lightyear, the space ranger from the Toy Story franchise. He is also known for his starring roles in sitcoms like Home Improvement and Last Man Standing.

7. Voice of Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story

Tim Allen is perhaps most well-known for voicing Buzz Lightyear, one of the lead characters alongside Tom Hanks' Woody in the computer-animated comedy-drama movie series, Toy Story.

Since the first movie that premiered in 1995, Allen has played the space cowboy in all four movies, recently reprising his role in the fourth installment that premiered in 2019.

The animated movie franchise ranks among the most acclaimed and successful movie franchise -- animated and otherwise -- in history, grossing more than $3 million combined at the worldwide box office. 

6. Married since 2006 to Actress Jane Hajduk

Tim Allen has been married since 2006 to the American actress, Jane Hajduk. Hajduk is known for her appearances in TV series like Chicago Hope, NCIS, and Monk.

They started dating in 2001 and tied the knot on October 7, 2006, in a private ceremony in Grand Lake, Colorado. They welcomed their daughter, Elizabeth Allen, on March 28, 2009.

Tim has a daughter from his ex-wife of nearly two decades, Laura Deibel. They tied the knot on April 7, 1984. In December 1989, Allen became a father for the first time when Laura gave birth to their daughter, Katherine 'Kady' Allen. Tim and Laura legally separated in 1999 and got divorced in 2003. Their divorce was finalized on March 1, 2003.    

5. TV Debut as Tim "The Toolman" Taylor in Home Improvement

Allen started his career as a comedian and found some modicum of success. After a drug bust and a subsequent arrest, Allen looked to turn his life around. 

The opportunity came in 1991 when, despite his troubled past and his self-admitted lack of acting range, he landed the lead role as Tim "The Toolman" Taylor in the  ABC sitcom, Home Improvement.

The sitcom was one of the most successful in American television history and ran for eight years and 204 episodes.

At the height of the show's popularity, Tim Allen was being paid as much as $1.25 million per episode.   

4. Played Santa Claus in The Santa Clause Movie Trilogy

Tim Allen has played Scott Calvin/Santa Claus in The Santa Claus movie trilogy.

 He first played the toy-salesman-turned-Saint-Nick in the 1994 fantasy comedy-drama, The Santa Clause, which has gone on to become a Christmas classic.

The success spurred on two more sequels: 2002's The Santa Clause 2 and 2006's The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.

The movie trilogy has grossed a combined $473.5 million with a relatively low budget of $99 million. 

3. Stars as Mike Baxter in the ABC/Fox sitcom Last Man Standing

Starting from 2011, Tim starred in another sitcom, Last Man Standing.

He stars as Michael Martin "Mike" Baxter alongside Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, and Christoph Sanders, among others.

The series premiered on October 11, 2011, and despite stop-start production, the show aired its eighth season on January 2, 2020.

2. Starring Roles in the Movies Galaxy Quest and Wild Hogs

Besides his voice-acting work on the big screens, Allen is also known for his live-action roles.

He starred alongside Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, and Sam Rockwell, among others in the 1999 sci-fi comedy movie, Galaxy Quest. Meant to serve as both parody, as well as pay homage to the popular space opera franchise, Star Trek, the movie is regarded as a cult classic.

Allen also starred alongside John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy in the 2007 biker road comedy movie, Wild Hogs.

In 2017, Allen starred in the Netflix black comedy movie, El Camino Christmas, which starred Luke Grimes, Vincent D'Onofrio, Dax Shepard, and Jessica Alba, among others.
