Ozzy Osbourne’s crazy persona, heavy drug abuse, musical talent, and overall likability has made him one of the best-known musicians in the world. Additionally, he is also one of the most interesting people in the world.   

He has endured many diseases and most people are amazed that he survived his heavy drug abuse but in January 2020 he revealed that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. 

The godfather of heavy metal had been diagnosed with the disease a while before but chose to reveal it only in January 2020. Osbourne’s fans have poured in with concern and well wishes after the news broke on media.

When Did Ozzy Osbourne Get Diagnosed With Parkinson’s Disease?

Osbourne stated in an interview on Good Morning America that he got the diagnosis in February 2019.

He stated in the interview: 

“It’s been terribly challenging for us all,” I did my last show New Year’s Eve at the Forum. Then I had a bad fall. I had to have surgery on my neck, which screwed all my nerves.”

The 71-year-old said that it was incredibly hard for him to keep the secret as he was not good at making excuses. He canceled his Farewell in April of last year and stated that he has been suffering from more and more health problems recently. 

Although most fans are familiar with Ozzy’s various health problems, this reveal of his Parkinson’s disease comes as a surprise to many. 

He also added that his bad fall at his Los Angeles home also contributed to his digression in health. He said

Parkinson’s disease is one of the most serious nerve diseases, it affects the whole nervous system. The disease is also progressive and starts out small but slowly affects the whole nervous system.

Symptoms of the disease include tremors in the limbs and sometimes stiffness or slowing of movement. There are various causes of this disease like genetics, environmental triggers, Lewy bodies, etc.        

Some other factors that increase the risk of this disease developing include age, heredity, sex, entering and prolonged exposure of toxic substances among others.  

The disease can also bring about emotional changes in the victim in addition to the physical effects it has.
