Damon Herriman, 49, is an Australian actor who made his name down under before setting his sights to the greener pastures of Hollywood. 

Son of Australian acting icon, Noel Herriman, he has found more mainstream success, thanks in no small part to his uncanny and unsettling portrayal of the cult leader Charles Manson in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and again in David Fincher's Netflix true-crime series Mindhunter.

7. Plays Charles Manson In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Mindhunter

The infamous cult leader, Charles Manson- upon whose name the August 9, 1969-slaying of five people including actress Sharon Tate was carried out- died on November 19, 2017.   

But if one didn't know any better, they would think that Manson was alive and working in Hollywood! Such was the brilliant yet unsettling portrayal of Charles Manson by Damon Herriman. 

He was first recognized for his uncanny resemblance to the cult leader by Quentin Tarantino and subsequently landed the role of Manson in the 2019 comedy-drama Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

He then reprised his role in the second season of Mindhunter. The acclaimed series is led by stellar performances from its lead cast, including Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv. Even Cameron Britton's Ed Kemper was a highlight of the show. 

Despite that, Herriman's mere ten-minute appearance on episode 5 of the second season left an impression on fans that won't soon be forgotten.  

6. He Is Not As Short As Charles Manson

In real life, Charles Manson stands at a measly 5'2". Despite playing the role to perfection, Herriman is not as short as Charles Manson. He stands at an average 5'7".

Courtesy of clever camera angles, Herriman was portrayed as the diminutive-sized Manson, and people were none the wiser.

5. He Was A Child Star

Damon had a head start on his career, beginning with commercials at age 8, and progressing to debuting on TV at age ten as Frank Errol in the Australian drama series The Sullivans.

For his contributions to the series, Herriman was nominated for three Logie Awards.

4. Son Of Australian Actor Noel Herriman

Damon hails from acting royalty, born to Australian actor Noel Herriman- of Candy and Predestination fame. Damon was born on born 31 March 1970 in Adelaide, South Australia, to Noel and his wife.    

Following in his father's footsteps, Damon became an actor and arguably overshadowed his father's career. 

3. Established Himself In Movies Like 100 Bloody Acres, House of Wax, J. Edgar, And The Lone Ranger

After establishing himself in the annals of Australian cinema, Damon set his sights to the greener pastures of American cinema.

He went on to appear in movies like 100 Bloody Acres, House of Wax, J. Edgar, and The Lone Ranger, among others. 

2. Director Of Short Movies The Date, The Hitch, And The Faking Game

Herriman has also dabbled in directing and is credited with lending his behind-the-camera talents to such shorts like The Date, The Hitch, and The Faking Game.      

Aside from directing, Herriman has also tried his hand at writing screenplay- to great acclaim. He won the Best Screenplay award at Flickerfest in 2004 for Soar.  

A man of such notoriety as Damon Herriman is bound to be worth his weight in gold. As of 2020, his net worth is reported to be $2 million.
