7. Boneta Holds a Triple Citizenship

Mexican-born Boneta has Puerto Rican and American roots from his mother's side. Aside from being able to communicate in English and Spanish fluently, he also holds citizenships from three countries.

He is a Mexican native, and he also has citizenships of Spain and the United States.

6. Debuted at Age 12

 Boneta had a head start on his career. He realized early on where his passions lied and pursued a career in showbiz at 12 when he participated in the Mexican singing reality TV show for children, titled Codigo Fama

While he could not bag the first place, he was one of the five finalists and kick started his career on a very high note.

5. Played Luis Miguel in the Eponymous Biographical TV Show 

Boneta had the chance to show his singing and acting chops as the titular character in the Spanish-American biographical TV show Luis Miguel: The Series.

The series follows singer Luis Miguel's ascent into superstardom in Latin America and the greater world.

Boneta received widespread acclaim for his performance and further cemented his place in the history books.

4. He is an Accomplished Singer

Having a successful acting career is taxing enough, but to juggle a successful career in music alongside proves that Boneta is one of the finest talents in the showbiz.

He has released two successful studio albums: namely Diego (2005) and Indigo (2008), as well as a live album for Diego.

He is also a proficient touring musician, and has opened for the group RBD and Hilary Duff.

3. His Breakthrough Role was 2012's Rock Of Ages

Despite enjoying success a modicum of success, Boneta would go on to be globally recognized for his performance in the 2012 musical comedy Rock of Ages. 

The movie draws inspiration from the eponymous Broadway musical and stars Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, among others.

Diego landed the lead role of Drew Boley and despite the movie bombing at the box office and being panned by critics, Boneta was praised for his acting and took home the CinemaCon's "Rising Star of the Year" award and the Best Actor award at the American Latino Media Arts Award.

2. Made Appearances in Pretty Little Liars, Scream Queens and Jane the Virgin

After his career gained traction, Boneta went on to appear in numerous American TV shows. 

Most notably, he played Alex Santiago in 5 episodes of the American teen mystery-thriller-drama Pretty Little Liars from 2010 to 2011. 

He was also part of the main cast of the first season of Scream Queens. His 13-episode stint ended with the first season. 

Boneta also made an appearance in a 2016 episode of Jane the Virgin as Dax.
