7. She Stars In The Upcoming Netflix Thriller TV Series Messiah

Michelle Monaghan is slated to star in the upcoming Netflix thriller Messiah. The story of the TV show revolves around a man who claims to be the second coming of Jesus and the world's reaction to it.

The case is handled by a CIA officer named Eva Geller, a role played by Monaghan.

Messiah premiered on Netflix on January 1, 2020. The series features the actors like Tomer Sisley, Mehdi Dehbi, John Ortiz, and Lavie Owen besides Michelle Monaghan.

6. She Came From Humble Beginnings

Michelle certainly wasn't born into an acting family, but she was born for acting. The daughter of a factory hand father, and a daycare center worker mother, she broke the mold of her humble beginnings and forged her path into Hollywood superstardom. 

5. She Battled Skin Cancer

In 2011, Michelle came out in an interview with the unsettling news of her previous run-in with skin cancer.

Her husband noticed a mole on her leg that kept changing, which upon further diagnosis turned out to be a form of skin cancer. Fortunately, her husband's vigilant eyes stopped it becoming fatal. 

In her own words, Michelle recounts the harrowing experience:

A few years ago I had a mole on the back of my calf, and my husband was adamant that I get it checked. In Australia, they're very aware of skin cancer. I finally went and it was skin cancer. I had quite the chunk taken out of my leg. 

4. She Was a Chain-smoker

You wouldn't know it by her present lifestyle and her advocacy for healthy living and working out, but at one point, Michelle used to be a chain-smoker. 

She admitted in an interview that she smoked compulsively for 10 years. After her scare with skin cancer, she had an epiphany. Facing her mortality, she was forced to take account of her life and change her ways. She admitted in an interview:

"I smoked for almost 10 years. I really regret that. Thankfully, I came out on the other side. I hope my lungs are repairing themselves now."

3. Has Two Children By Her Husband Peter White

Michelle plays homemaker to Australian graphic artist Peter White. They were acquainted at a party in 2000. They struck up a romance and were together for five years before exchanging rings in May 2005.

Michelle walked down the aisle in August later that year and was pronounced the wife of Peter. They were blessed with two children: a daughter named Willow Katherine White born on November 5, 2008, and a son named Tommy Francis White on October 30, 2013.

2. She Is Legally Eligible To Drive An 18-wheeler

Michelle has always prided herself on being a method actor. For her role in the 2008 indie drama movie Trucker, she went above and beyond to get a "Class A" driver's license. 

The license legally permits Michelle to drive an 18-wheeler lorry. 

1. She Was a Model Before Becoming An Actress

Before digging her heels into acting (and becoming pretty good at it), Michelle was a model. 

She used her genetic attributes and her flair for the camera to model in numerous catalogs and magazines. She was an international commodity, modeling in cities like Milan, Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong to name a few.
