Wilson attended Radnor High School in Pennsylvania, where he took part in various school activities as drama, music, and debate. He played tuba in a band and was the leader of his marching band. Wilson went on to study international politics at Arizona State University and also attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.

As a voice-over actor, Wilson has appeared in numerous animated series, including the animated comedy television series, SpongeBob SquarePants. He voiced the villainous characters as Flats the Flounder and Tattletale Strangler. 

Moreover, he also voiced the non-villainous characters as Patrick's Dad, Marty, and Reg, Reg the Club Bouncer, appearing in altogether 19 episodes. Additionally, Wilson also lent his voice for 2004 The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and its sequel The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.
