These Are The 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2020, Check Out Why

With 2019 coming to a close, and the world hurls towards the new decade,  we take a look at some of the most anticipated movies of 2020.

Will 2020 be as historical as 2019 in churning out blockbuster movies? Only time will tell. But these 10 movies sure have us excited!

1. Tenet

Is Christopher Nolan the best filmmaker working today? With an impressive resume of such movies as Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk under his belt, it is hard to argue otherwise.

Fans have been clamoring for the next Chris Nolan feature to blow away expectations, and Tenet is set to do just that. The upcoming thriller is set to drop in theaters in July 2020.

The man can do no wrong, and there has hardly been a misstep in his career. With a star-studded cast including Robert Pattinson, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, it seems like Tenet is not going to disappoint.

2. No Time to Die

No Time to Die marks the 27th movie in the James Bond franchise, and Daniel Craig's fifth outing as the titular character.

The movie is helmed by visionary director Cary Joji Fukunaga, of True Detective fame. Set to release in April 2020, the movie follows James Bond as he comes out of retirement to unravel the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of a scientist.

With a supporting cast of such actors as Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rami Malek, and Ana de Armas and under the vision of Fukunaga, expectations are set very high and judging by the first trailer, the movie is set to be a fitting addition to the illustrious franchise.

3. Birds of Prey

When fans remember 2016's massive disappointment, Suicide Squad fondly, they think of Margot Robbie's tour de force portrayal of Gotham's notorious harlot, Harley Quinn.

Fans rejoiced when the spin-off to DC Comics' Suicide Squad was announced in May 2016. The film follows Harley Quinn as she recruits Gotham's female anti-heroes in an attempt to save their friend from Gotham's crime lord.

Aside from reprising the role of Harley Quinn, Margot also stepped in as the producer, and fans got a glimpse into her vision for the movie when the first teaser dropped.

Anticipation for the movie has skyrocketed since, and hopefully fans enjoy the movie when it drops in theaters in February 2020.

4. Godzilla vs. Kong

What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? It seems like we may finally be getting the answer. The prospect of seeing the showdown between the two behemoths on the big screens has fans rabid with excitement and salivating with anticipation.

The movie is the sequel to 2017's Kong: Skull Island and 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and the continuation of Legendary movie production studio's MonsterVerse.

Set to drop in theatres in November 2020, the movie stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, and Rebecca Hall, among others.

5. Wonder Woman 1984

After the lackluster performances of other DC Extended Universe movies, fans were pleasantly surprised by the sleeper hit that was 2017's Wonder Woman

Directed by Patty Jenkins, the movie stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. A breakthrough for all involved, the 2017 movie spawned the sequel set to drop in theaters mid-2020.

After the failure of Batman V Superman, expectations were low for Wonder Woman, but the movie shattered every ceiling set by its predecessor's disappointment.

If the newest trailer is any indication, the movie is set to prove critics wrong yet again.

6. Top Gun: Maverick

The sequel more than 30 years in the making, Top Gun: Maverick is the successor the 1986 blockbuster hit, Top Gun.

Set to drop in theatres in June 2020, the movie sees a returning Tom Cruise reprise his role as Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. He is joined by such actors as Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Joe Hamm, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer.

Seeing how much thought went into the production of the upcoming sequel, and with Jerry Bruckheimer stepping in as producer, it is unsurprising that Top Gun: Maverick is one of the most anticipated movies in recent history.

7. Black Widow

Ever since Black Widow's past was subtly hinted at in Avengers: Age of Ultron, fans have been clamoring for a Black Widow standalone movie.

To the joy of loyal fans, Black Widow was announced in February 2018. The movie sees Scarlett Johansson reprise her role as Black Widow sharing the screens with David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz.

The movie follows Black Widow, freshly branded a fugitive after the events of Captain America: Civil War, as she faces the demons of her past to ensure her survival.

8. A Quiet Place: Part II

Following the unprecedented success of the 2018 horror movie, A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place: Part II sees John Krasinski return as the director and one of the leads alongside wife Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cillian Murphy, and Djimon Hounsou.

Set to release in March 2020, the movie has fans writhing in anticipation hoping that the movie can live up to the hype set by its predecessor.

9. Greyhound

Not since 1998's Saving Private Ryan have fans been able to see Tom Hanks return to acting in a World War II movie. For fans of this niche, Greyhound is set to be their WWII fix.

The movie follows US Navy Commander, Commander Ernest Krause played by Hanks, on his first assignment aboard the US warship Greyhound as he attempts to evade pursuing German U-Boats across the Atlantic Ocean with 36 other allied warships.

If that was not reason enough to watch the movie when it drops in May 2020, Hanks also steps into his producer and writer shoes for this feature.

10. Mulan

The live-action adaptation of Mulan is one of the most anticipated movies of 2020, and for good reason. Following the critical and commercial success of the 1998 animated movie, Mulan began development in August 2018.

With a budget of around $290-300 million, the producers went to painstaking lengths to cast Liu Yifei in the lead role, amongst more than a thousand prospects.

Such efforts can be reflected on the first official trailer dropped recently, and if the trailer is any indication, the movie is sure to live up to the hype.
