Hollywood has a morbid fascination with staying young forever. More often than not, they do so at a great cost- and not just in terms of money. Botox, facelift, cosmetic surgery, and the like are the order of the day for the aging celebrity.
It is somewhat of a modern Hollywood controversy that most celebrities would rather die young than grow old, and Courtney Love is nothing, if not controversial.
Throughout the years, Courtney has been depicted as many things- wild child, rock goddess, drug junkie, Mrs. Kurt Cobain, and most recently, botox queen.
Courtney has not been shy about coming under the knife, whether it be for a nose job or a facelift.
Courtney Love Doesn't Regret Getting A Nose Job
It is not exactly a Hollywood trade secret that Courtney had a nose job- a look through her early photos would tell people all they needed to know.
Hollywood has perfected the art of graceful noses, and while some of them are attributed to good genes, there are a fair number of people who underwent rhinoplasty.
And while celebrities try to hide their surgeries to maintain the illusion that they were born perfect, Courtney has been forthcoming in admitting to having a nose-job.
Courtney admitted in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on his November 18, 2014, show that she got the nose-job in the mid-'80s so that she would get acting gigs. She went on to explain how she lost her first audition to Julia Roberts:
“I tried out for a movie starring Justine Bateman back in the ’80s and I didn’t get the part. It was about an all-girl rock band… you know who got that part? Julia Roberts got that part [in Satisfaction]. It was her first part."
It was then she decided to undergo rhinoplasty to fix her "schnoz"- as she called it:
"I was an actress in the ’80s but, well, let’s just be real, I had a really big nose. That schnoz was not taking me anywhere but radio."
The procedure worked wonders on her career, and her world changed:
"Yeah, I got my nose fixed. In six months, the whole world changed. It just happened… I was 20 when I did it.”
To Jimmy Kimmel's question on whether she regretted her nose job, Courtney answered with a resounding "Hell No!"
Courtney Love's Face Lift
A facelift, or rhytidectomy in technical terms, is a surgical procedure that tightens skin to give it a youthful appearance.
In an industry that is obsessed with beauty, it is a common procedure among celebrities trying to retain their youth. Courtney Cox, Cindy Crawford, Jamie Lee Curtis, are among the few who have had work done.
Courtney Love also joins the long list of celebrities who have had a rhytidectomy to appear youthful. In the winter 2014 issue of Fashion Magazine, Courtney admitted to taking advice from actress Goldie Hawn and got a facelift at age 35:
'Nobody ask me about aging gracefully, pleeease, c'mom, I took advice from Goldie Hawn when she said I should get a facelift at 35!'
Where Is She Now?
Courtney Love's present-day life is a far cry from what it used to be during her drug-addled, rockstar, wild child phase where she could hardly go a week without making some sort of a headline.
That doesn't mean that she has become obscure, but her life does seem more stable. We would be remiss in not mentioning that she is the widow of grunge icon and Nirvana pioneer, Kurt Cobain, and is mother to their daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.
Love and Cobain had a mutually self-destructive relationship exacerbated by excessive drug use, and after Cobain's suicide, she was involved in a vicious feud with Nirvana band member, Dave Grohl. They have since made up, and remain friends to this day.
